my key role was create and head a design team. later i was also asked to create, head and manage the technology team. i set up the entire team from point zero and led them into successful execution of various projects. key projects involved launch of three new portals, setting up of the sound studio and working on animated songs and stories, planning and developing kROWSER; a cyber safe kids browser. 

in all these projects i was involved in ideation, product specs finalization, development planning, branding, ui design and project management, all leading to successful implementation of the planned product.

i started this software design company along with a colleague from iit, mumbai and a mba-type friend. initially the areas of operation included new media, print and video communication but subsequently we shifted our entire focus to New Media. 

my areas of work included business development, strategic tie-ups, project management, client liaison, product ideation and planning, team building, design and content development.

legacy entertainment
july 1996 to march 1997

'freedom to work' got me into legacy entertainment, a dalmia group company. job brief included conceptualizing new ideas, vetting ideas submitted by independent producers and supporting the marketing team in their activities. activities included doing sitcoms, corporate films and ad films. when the company closed down, i was asked to oversee the closing down operations that included inventory evaluation, costing and disposal. the overall managerial experience with significant exposure to marketing and operations at legacy led me towards the idea of starting on my own.

in the starting days of this phase i worked on few freelance video projects. then i joined a production house and worked on a serial called 'amma and family'. my work involved script and dialogues, art direction, make-up supervision and costume design. simultaneously, i was also involved in ideation for new projects on various themes.

after completing my engineering degree, and prior to my joining idc, i worked for two advertising agencies as a trainee and then as a junior copywriter. this was my first brush with the concept of 'communication' and 'brands'.
