'independent' |

being 'independent' basically means that i am not associated
with any organization. unlike a 'typical' freelancer i do not work for
any firm. for you, this means an assurance that your critical
business information is in safe hands.
i appreciate signing non disclosure agreements before starting
work to ensure that the information about both the parties is kept
confidential, legally. in case of larger accounts, we can also get
into arrangements wherein i do not touch similar or competitive
projects . this is specially critical for product companies.
another important aspect of this whole thing is that we would pursue business as it should ideally be - no meeting after office
hours kind of stuff!
there is one more reason why i call myself 'independent'.
i started my
career with video communication. it lasted two years. i was not
really enjoying the work as most of it was more about man
management rather than creative thinking. so i shifted my focus
towards new media. i worked in this area for a long time - doing
information architecture, ui design, product and application
concepts and planning.
but all
through this, i felt i was getting branded as a particular 'type'
of designer -a web designer, an art director, an information
architect.... and that was not what i was looking for. so i
decided to go independent. this independence was for me, enabling
me to work on a wide
variety of projects. and still provide ample time to fulfill my
own personal creative pursuits.
